I want to thank all of the volunteers with the midnight madness membership drive at the Elk's last year. A big thanks to all who helped in our course drainage that we added to the existing drainage. Todd ,Doug, Dick, Greg, Wayne And also Bob Shymanski, and White Enterprises for the use of the large machines that save a lot of time. And thanks to Dick and Barb for all there work on making the wind screen happen on the covered area And also the grounds crew for keeping the place playable and looking good under our wonderful summer weather conditions. This year we are going to repair the #4, #1 and #5 tee boxes and the cart path along fairway #5, so if you would like to help on any of these projects please call the pro shop or stop by.
DON'T FORGET! Annual Golf Dinner May 2 Tournament May 2 & 3
All of us at Muskeg Meadows are looking forward to another great year of golf, see you out there.
Thank you!
Brent Smith, President
NEW COURSE RULES: This past season the board voted unanimously to prohibit dogs on the course during business hours. This was a very difficult decision to make but we have had dogs interfering with play and posted signs to keep your animals on a leash and to clean up after them, ignored. After business hours your dog must be on a leash. Bags are provided on the course to clean up after your pet. We also ask that you dispose of the bags of do-do properly, thanks. |
| Treasurer's Report |
The Budget Committee will meet in January to formulate 2009 budget. As of December 31, 2008 before inventory and depreciation adjustments the club had a net loss of $306.22. Contributing to this loss was the purchase of a thatcher and mower which totaled $8,874. We did raise $3,655 toward this expense through donations. Also our fuel costs were doubled over the last year along with a rise in payroll costs. Thanks to all who help the club in various of ways. With the volunteer enthusiasm and hard work of the team our club is continuing to move ahead.

| Membership Committee |
The Membership Committee as been actively contact old and new members. If you are aware of anyone who has fallen off our address list please pass their address along to Barbara. The December "dues due" post card mailing has received good response. For the next three months there will be a drawing from those who have paid their memberships. To date we have 86 paid members. |

May This Year Be A Great Golfing Year For You! I am happy to announce that our new website is up and running. Nadra (Angerman) and I worked hard for a couple months to achieve this (thanks Nadra!). It is state of the art, informative and we have complete access to keep it updated at all times! A big "thank you" going out to Bruce Harding for carrying the golf course website, until we could stand on our own feet. The new website still has the old address wrangellalaskagolf.com, check it out for yourself. Another big project has been brought to a close and that is our grant application to the Rasmuson Foundation. With the help of Tis Peterman, Mari Selle, Jim Abbott, Brian Smith and myself, we had submitted a $25,000 grant for ten golf carts, four sets of golf clubs and two containers to store them in. The foundation has announced that our grant application has been accepted. But due to the tough economic times, we will be granted $14,500 for five golf carts, two sets of clubs and two containers. It is nothing personal to the golf course, all grants from here on out will be reduced until further notice. I will be looking for volunteers this year to help out at the golf course. I have had to take some budget cuts in order to help keep the prices down (they will be the same as last year). Picking up range balls. Saturday beer cart drivers and back up (just in case, on Sundays). "Double Your Money Hole" during tournaments. Not counting extra help out on the greens. Donations of salads are greatly appreciated, especially when we have big tournaments. Any other food donations you would like to make, see me or call, first, so that I can make arrangements. Remember we do not have a kitchen or an oven for food prep and cooking. I am also looking for donations for raffle items. Something of interest to everyone. It needs to be new or like new to entice people to buy a raffle ticket to help support the golf course. I am looking forward to our new golf season and I hope to see you all there!

| Laws of Golf |
LAW #1:No matter how bad your last shot was you should have inner peace knowing that a worse one is yet to come. This law does not expire on the 18th hole, since it has the supernatural tendency to extend over the course of a tournament, a summer and, eventually, a lifetime.
LAW #2:Your best round of golf will be followed almost immediately by your worst round ever. The probability of the latter increases with the number of people you tell about the former.
